our excitement for the day
Did you know that a riding lawn mower can throw a rock really, really hard, at an upward angle, for quite a distance? And that it can aim it right between the wide boards that make up the railing on a back deck? And that when a 7' by 4' panel of a sliding glass door shatters, it makes thousands and thousands of very sharp and tiny squares of glass, which take quite a lot of effort and time to clean up?
We do, now.

Ok, here goes more dork-dom -- I used to work in the window-making industry. In order for that door to shatter like that, it had to be hit at Just the Right Angle -- tempered glass shouldn't break when you hit it straight on. We used to do whale on pieces of tempered glass with a sledgehammer to amaze and delight our coworkers. It just takes a tap in the right spot to let it rip, though.
I hope you are all ok and no one got hit with the flying glass.

Oh NO!! I am so, so sorry!! Everyone's ok?? Better keep wearing shoes for a while, just in case. TTYS!

WOW.
And after reading Mary's comment, DOUBLE WOW.
I hope no one was cut! :(

I'm sorry you had such a mess to deal with!
I've always been nervous about lawn mowers throwing rocks, probably because Mom made us stay inside when anyone was mowing. Well, I "disobeyed" the other day and was out walking around when my grandfather was mowing. He hit a bump, the lawn mower tilted a little, and a bit of something *did* hit me in the face! Not hard enough to cut or bruise, but I definitely felt it, and I won't be so careless next time.
But now it sounds like I'm not even safe in the house! ;o)

Holy cow! That's wild. One time I was using a weed whacker, edging around my mom's yard...I was wearing shoes, but I got hit in the ankle with the plastic string that goes 'round and 'round to cut the weeds. Don't ask me how I did it, it has a cover. It didn't slice me open or anything but I had a pretty gnarly welt.

Actually, I did know that. I'm sorry you had a mess to clean up, but I feel better knowing that I'm not the only one who has things like this happen! BTW, how's your recovery coming along?

I am SO showing this to my family. They don't believe me when I saw this can happen. What if it had been a CHILD??? God forbid!
