blocking
These are the crochet pieces I'm entering in the fair. They have to be turned in at the fairgrounds by seven this evening, so I figured today would be a great time to sew the buttons on the sweaters and block everything (that's when you spritz it with water, put it in the shape you want it to naturally fall into, and then let it dry). I thought I'd have another afghan done in time, but that'll have to be next year. Oh well; the entry clerks would think I was an imposter if I didn't show up with at least two or three no-shows. (the daisy afghan under the baby things is also entered).

Cute cute cute. I think they should all win. The sweaters are all beyond my abilities, but are the hats very hard? I am in the crochet/knit club at work, and we have a bunch of donated yarn that we make baby gear, afghans, stuff like that to give to various charities in the area. I am getting tired of making scarves and would like to try something a wee bit more difficult.

Mary: If you can follow a pattern you can make any of these; none of the stitches are difficult. I personally would not make the ribbed one again, but that's just because I hate changing colors and that one had a color change at the end of every row. The hat for that set was actually harder than the sweater, because with the hat they want you to keep the yarn from the previous round sitting there in a loop on a safety pin, to pick up next time, and heaven help you if you let it fall to the wrong side.
Actually the hardest parts for me were the pom poms for the hats. Took ages to get them anywhere near even, and they still didn't look the way I wanted them to.
Susan: When's your ultrasound, missy? ;)

Oh, Rachel, they are darling! You are so very talented. I wish I could follow a pattern for crocheting...Even the children's crochet books may as well be written in Greek to me! I can't pattern? What pattern? Anyways, I can make blankets and doilies and pot-holders, that's about it. I'd LOVE to crochet a shirt or a sweater with the very fine yarn. So soft.

Sorry Rachel! I also meant to say what pretty things you made! I love your daisy blanket.
Susan, you wil have to tell me what life is like with 4! How are you doing?

I don't get my ultrasound for another 6 weeks or so. That seems like FOREVER from now!!!
Debi, I'll be happy to tell you what life with four is like so long as I'm not sitting in a padded room somewhere. :) Just my three have almost sent me there. Congrats again on your #3, btw; hope you're enjoying yourself! :)
