now why didn't *I* think of that?
Oh, I am so going to shamelessly copy these three unbelievably clever ideas.
- My friend Michael-who's-a-girl is making a jeans quilt. I made a denim quilt a few years ago, but it was nowhere near as nice as hers is going to be. THE LITTLE FRAYED DETAILS SO CUTE MY GOSH. Good thing I've been saving up jeans again.
- And then there's dreams of flying, which is, well, dreamy.
- Behold the Fabric Cubby House. Is she not the coolest mom (sorry, mum) you ever saw? I am seriously going to buy the dining table for our new house with this project in mind.

Thankyou so much for your lovely comment about the cubby house, that's so sweet of you!

I have a bag full of jeans and slack legs (I have to cut off and hem every pair of pants I get 'cause I'm short) and I've always wanted to do something with them. Jeans quilt, here I come. Thanks for sharing!

Dunno. I kind of like the blanket-over-a-table idea - I mean, what if they want to be zoo animals in a cage or astronauts on a spaceship instead of in a house? I wonder if it would be possible to expand that idea: start with a sheet, sew lots of velcro squares on , then make windows and doors and portholes and cage bars and jungle trees and anything else they want (better, have them make them) and then they could make it be whatever they want. I can think of two ways: attach the soft part of the velcro to the sheet so no one gets scratched, and then out a square of the other side on each attachment piece, or put the scratchy side of the velcro on the sheet, then cut the other pieces out of felt.

Ooh, a "mentioned by name in a blog" thrill! ;o)
I remembered that you'd made a jeans quilt, but I couldn't remember whether it was frayed or not. :o)
There's quite a bit of information on rag quilts online. Useful for a beginner like me, but you may not need it. I think it's pretty simple.
