« little things part deux | Main | County fair! Whee! »

Oh happy day!

As if the opening of the county fair didn't make it festive enough, now I get a gun-toting, pro-life, BS-cutting 42-year-old mother of five (including one son who enlisted in the military on 9/11/07 and a newborn with Down Syndrome whom she describes as "perfection") for a vice-presidential nominee? Is this my birthday or something?

I haven't been this excited about something political in a long, long time. Since... probably 1994. You'll excuse my gushing, won't you? I promise it won't happen... too often.

Back later with the news I know you're all waiting for with bated breath: How did the baked goods place? P.S. Jenn, watch your mail.

Let's not forget that the army-son is shipping out to Iraq on 9/11/08.

She knew before he was born that her son would have Down Syndrome, too. Truly walking the walk for pro-life.

I watched a lot of her speech over my lunch and was pretty impressed.

At my office here, we have a young girl (wait, when did 24 make someone a "young girl"? I'm a young'un myself!) who said "Wow, a woman. That wrinkly old guy is more interesting than I first thought." Here's to more young voters thinking that way ...

I have to admit that I don't know much about her, yet, but I'm impressed by what you write about her-- and much more excited about the vote I'm going to cast in November!

As for the fair, with everything you entered, you *have* to win at least one blue ribbon-- maybe even "best in show"! ;o)

I DO want to know about how WELL you do, as I WONT BE THERE TONIGHT! WAAAH! I dont even get to go to the fair this year! I am really sad! anyway, I was posting to say that the more I learn of this woman, the more I am SO very happy with his pick! I think he will do well. I am very interested to see how his poll numbers will do now that we know who he chose.
you are right, this is getting exciting!!

Crikey - pro-life and admitting it? Don't you find that there are fewer and fewer of us about? If I hear once more about a woman's right to abort, I think I will become gun-toting!

"Is this my birthday or something?" cracked me up. If I had a girl C's age I would be very, very excited about a woman in the White House. What an inspiration!

As we've discussed, we disagree on a lot of the issues here, but your excitement about Palin makes me slightly more hopeful about her. If that makes sense.

I disagree with Palin on literally every issue. I think she'd be a terrible VP and an absolute disaster as President. That said, I do give her credit for consistency and as you say, walking the walk.

(Not any of my business, but I do confess to a nosy curiosity about whether her 17-year-old daughter wanted to get married or was pushed into it. I'd sort of be just as glad if I never find out though; that kid has already had to suffer far too much invasion of her privacy.)

I'm also very impressed with Biden's son who's going to Iraq: NOT a young and eager 18-year-old but Attorney General of Delaware about to be posted for a year with his Guard Unit. That man has to be aware of all the consequences and of all he stands to lose in a way that I'm not sure an 18-year-old can.
